I was a rower all 4 years of high school (and still occasionally get out in a racing shell). The 6am report times for regattas, before AND after-school workouts ... and those hilarious spandex unis (the boys on our team had it worse than the girls, we managed to have 2-piece unis while the guys had singlets). The entire pad of our hands are giant callouses (or blisters, if it was the beginning of the season or you were a novice).
